9 year old Magenta shares the tips and tactics that have helped her cope with bullies at school.
- Remember that water runs off a duck’s back. I don’t let the bad energy come to me. I let it go like the water off a duck’s back because I don’t want this bad energy to ruin my day.
- Say “Stop it, I don’t like it” to the bully. And walk away.
- I have a favourite tree that I go to at school. I just spend some time on my own there.
- Draw a picture of who is bullying you, rip up the paper and put it in the bin or in the fire. That helps because you got rid of the anger, sadness or other feelings.
- Sometimes teachers don’t help, so I go and talk to my best friend. She knows about my experience, and she supports me.
- Say to the bully “I have had enough of your bullying or rudeness. I don’t want to be your friend anymore.” I find other friends who like me for who I am.
- When I get home, I go into my cubby, get one of my chickens to sit with and read a book with them. Do something that makes you happy.
